Gold Coast Marine - Woongoolba
25 years since its establishment, the 2004 expansion of Gold Coast Marine saw prawn production capacity double as it grew to incorporate 50 hectares of ponds located near the mouth of Logan River, adjacent to Moreton Bay Park. An expansion of this scale required the coordination of planning, surveying and environmental approval at a local, state and federal level. No previous plans had been approved, so for this project to be successful, the plans needed to appropriately demonstrate the hydraulic impact of the development, water quality and also the level of environmental sustainability.
