Brendon Walkinshaw
Town Planner
Brendon came to Gassman Development Perspectives in 2006 after practicing as a solicitor for over 3 years, much of which he practiced in property and commercial law. Brendon has pursued a longstanding interest in the field of town planning and has since completed a Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (Merit) from the University of New England whilst working as a planner at GDP. Brendon graduated his planning course with an above distinction average having completed his dissertation on the public perception of the impacts of urban growth within the Tweed Shire.
As an experienced town planner with over 5 years planning practice, Brendon has been exposed to a wide array of clients and projects throughout Queensland. Brendon has had carriage of projects ranging from regional master-planned residential communities with associated retail centres to large industrial subdivisions and preliminary approvals over potentially residential, industrial, medical and retail sites. Brendon also has experience in high rise and low rise multi-use residential projects as well as significant industrial, hospital and commercial uses.
Brendon is experienced in the preparation, lodgement and management of development applications but is also familiar with the compliance process and activities that often follow a development approval. Brendon’s legal background and experience provides clients with an additional and helpful perspective on the legal and bureaucratic issues which inevitably get raised before, during and after the development application process. Like all planners at GDP, Brendon promotes a cooperative, diligent and proactive project management style for all projects.
Brendon holds a combined Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Laws degree (including a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice) in addition to his planning qualifications and is a member of the Planning Institute of Australia and the Queensland Environmental Law Association.
